The Better India heads to IIM-A

The Better India, as many of you might know already, is an initiative started by us (the Mrs. and I) over a year ago. It has been slowly, but surely, making its presence felt – as is evident from its  steadily growing readership.

Now, we’ve been invited to speak at the entrepreneurship summit of IIM-A. We will be talking on the influence of media on social change and of course about The Better India. Catch our talk at IIM-A’s campus post noon on the 12th of January.

The entrepreneurship summit is on the 12th and 13th of January. Here is the complete list of speakers http://www.iima-dbi.com/speakers.html and we are privileged to be a part of such a distinguished panel.

So, if you are in Ahmedabad around that time, do drop-by. It would be nice to chat over some dhoklas and chaa.

Short Film Contest

A few months ago, I had written about Filminute, an international one-minute film festival.

Now, India is having its own short film contest – FulMarxx Shorts Fest 2.0.
If you are a budding filmmaker and are interested in short films, I suggest you head over to FulMarxx right away and submit your work. You might just win, or at the very least, get some good exposure for your work.
I, of course, am not skilled in these departments, but I like watching short films for sure.

Filminute – One minute films

Filminute is, as their site says, “the international one-minute film festival that challenges filmmakers, writers, animators, artists, designers, and creative producers to develop and submit the world’s best one-minute films.”

I found some very interesting one movie clips there.
The entry from India is titled “The Staircase” and is in the top 25 finalists. These top 25 films have been chosen from over 1500 entries across 16 countries.

I really liked “The Staircase” and you can click here to view this film. I liked the simplicity in which the entire scene has been conveyed and all that in just one minute! The Staircase has been directed by George Mangalath Thomas.

Another movie which I liked is “Support” from Iceland.

Check out all the 25 one-minute (or filminute) movies here.
