The moral police is back with a bang!
VHP on a decency spree, thrash young couples, reports ibnlive.
Among the VHP workers were some girls as well. The workers were armed with hockey sticks and lathis and thrashed the young men.
The girls said that they wanted to weed the society of men who used girls for their own means.
The Ahmedabad police were nowhere to be seen and the VHP activists were law unto themselves for quite some time.
Says a girl who was beaten up, “When I tried to stop them, they hit me four times with stick. I hope no other girl is treated like this.”
What is interesting is that these people think this is the right thing to do. They believe that they actually have moral authority to decide about others’ lives. The government should first of all book these clowns under some terrorism act. A harsh punishment shall probably deter others from doing the same in future. Here is the most hilarious part of the event:
The man behind the lathicharge is said to be Bajrang Dal activist Babu Bajrangi.
“We have not taken the law into our hands. We just want to teach girls how to live decently,” was all Babu Bajrangi had to say.
Mr. Bajrangi seems to have his own notions about a decent life.
Why is courting a lady or a gentleman considered to be blasphemous in most parts of this country? In a country where privacy is a rare phenomenon, its quite obvious that young romantics don’t have any place to go to and choose parks and other public centres as venues for letting their emotions flow. What is wrong with that? Why are we a nation of starers?
Why do we turn a blind eye to dowry deaths and take strong objection to something as harmless as gazing at the sky with your loved one’s hand in yours?
