Chick in an Ambassador
Fond memories brought back thanks to Pai’s blog.
(Pai, I hope you don’t have an issue with me mentioning your name, unlike our pal Mr. Albert Pinto).
You can definitely quote me freely and name me freely on your blog.

By the way, Albert Pinto ko gussa kyo aata hai?

Have you guys watched “Jaane bhi do yaaro”? Its an awesome movie, and the very best in satire.

Our rock group’s first song:
I saw a chick in an Ambassador
She smiled at me and I smiled back at her
I went to the store and got her a fur
….. (I *too* forgot the last line…..)

Inspired by…well, I really don’t think we ever saw a chick in an Ambassador. But nevertheless, we thought it was cool.
Yes, we were geeks, and we thought we were cool.
We are cool. We are geeks. We love ourselves. We are cooler now. We are geek-ier now.
We love ourselves all the more.
We walked on M. G. Road wearing ties. We really were cool.

Mr. Albert Pinto, how is the dart-target board practice coming along? :-)

I plan to start reading Stephen Hawking’s Essays on Black Holes and Baby Universes soon.
I am off this Friday afternoon to this place called Visthaar, its around 20 kms from M G Road and shall be back only on Sunday morning! No blog updates during this period! I am going to have a lot of fun.
Oh, I forgot to mention. I am going to Visthaar to attend the Playback refresher course :-)
It was the same place where I got lucky to see candles in the well.
Candles in the Well….(Elton John Style).
I dislike Elton John.
I like Coldplay.

If any of you get a chance, do listen to Matchbox 20′s Unwell. The song is nice. The video is nice. (I am kind of late in music updates).
Apparently, Beethoven’s 5th Symphony had the number Phi and that is the reason why it sounds so beautiful.
For the latecomers, read one of my earlier posts to know the feature of Phi. Phi is the building block of nature. Its value is 1.618.
Any art form, if it has its dimensions in the ratio 1.618:1 becomes aesthetically beautiful for the human mind.

I believe there is a lot out there for us to learn. For us to comprehend. For us to realise.
As per Socrates, the only aim of human life ought to be to gain knowledge.
I am going to learn. Knowledgeably so.
:-)

Just witnessed an awesome game of cricket.
India prevailed.
India’s cricketers are gods yet again.
India’s countrymen are worshipping their gods.
This country has a very short memory.
Thank god.
History amounts to nothing. The best thing about us is that we take the immediate and act upon it.
After all, as Napoleon quoted, “What is history, but a fable agreed upon.”
And I say, “What is the future, but a fantasy that we all want to agree upon.”

I finished reading the da Vinci Code yesterday. It does talk a bit about history.
In the past, there were always two teams pitted against each other; going to war against each other.
Whoever emerged victorious, wrote history. Wrote the books boasting about the victory.
The team that lost did not get to write its version of history.
History, therefore, is one-sided.

Coming back to cricket.
The match was won by India in the last 10 balls.
Never ever give up. Even if you are staring down the well.
Talking about the well, I have witnessed one awesome picture of candles burning bright inside a deep dark well. That happened at the last Playback refresher.
It was a beautiful sight. I got lucky. I am not sure how many people would get the chance to watch candles burning inside a well.
It was so beautiful that taking its photograph seemed like robbing it of its right to be away from human intervention.
I loved it. Made me feel very very glad about everything.

Right now, I am very glad indeed. :-)

Pai’s blog took me back to my school days. I miss them a lot.
The “Kentacky restaurant”; the Russian Dance; the Sunny; the neighbourhood loitering; the blackboard smashing; the trip to Delhi.
I guess some day I will write about each of these phrases.
Thinking about those days brings a smile back to my face. :-)

Good night everybody. The night is beautiful.
The morning shall be even more beautiful.
Stars are indeed a beautiful sight. Looking at the stars in the sky, looking at candles in the widest well that is possible. :-)

I will be fine. Soon.
Right now I just want to get back to the apartment that I stayed in while I was in the US.
Just want to stay alone for sometime out there.
Hog on all the crap that american television dishes out (especially CNN), play tennis at Peoria Sports Club, hang out at Fry’s, drive around in a Pontiac.
I miss the american pancakes, the muffins and ofcourse the coke.
I miss all that.

My morning jog was quite disturbing. Was a bit too heavy in the head.
There is only one thing I am really glad about this morning – my breakfast.

And since my breakfast is ready, I am outta here!
Have a great day :-)

Hello and good evening.
Its a late Sunday evening.
I didn’t write a post for Saturday since I just didn’t get the time. Sorry about that. (I assume a lot of people are really following my blog).

I have always been bad at assumptions.
Anyway, returned home now. Had a sub at Subway. That place always reminds of my stay in the US.
We’ll talk about that sometime later.

Anyway, I read more of the Da Vinci Code.
It unravels beautifully the hidden mysteries and secrets of ancient religions, artworks and so on.
It also talks about the alternative theory of Christ.
One fascinating thing I found:
The book proclaims about a number called the Divine proportion.
The number, Phi, is given in the book; read it to find its value :-)
Apprarently, every creation in nature has that number within itself.
The number of female bees divided by the number of male bees in any beehive in the world is always a constant and is equal to this number called Phi.
The length from your shoulder to your fingertips divided by the length from your elbow to your fingertips is equal to Phi!
The length from your forehead to your feet divided by the length from your belly button to your feet is equal to….what else but Phi?!
I found this really interesting!
I haven’t measured myself up, lest it should turn out that the number doesn’t match in my case! I really don’t want to be termed “un-natural”.

Went out for dinner on Saturday night as well.
And when I was driving back home, there were these beggars who come and knock at your car window. All of a sudden, I felt very guilty about the dinner I had.
What have I done that I deserve the luxury that I get? And what wrong has the beggar done that he/she is devoid of basic amenities?
I never get the answers for questions that really matter to me.
What is the purpose of the entire world being where it is? I mean, how does it matter to anyone in the universe if anything happens on earth?

Tell me, why is the universe there in the first place? What is its objective?
It started from the big bang, they say. Why did that original ball of fire, which broke to form our universe, exist?
I mean, why?

Too serious again….

Had a good time this evening….laughed and joked around a lot with this friend of mine who has come down from the US.
Humour is essential, I just realised.

This blog is too discontinuous. Lot of disjoint material floating around.
Sorry about that.
But hey! You learnt something! About the Phi, for example :-)
If you learnt something more, do let me know.

Good night :-)

Friday Feast.

Very tired after this morning’s jog.
So, I shall try and keep my post a little small.
Should I say short?
I was just short of saying that. Saying short.

The da Vinci Code seems to be really nice. I’ve read a quarter of it and have been able to learn the names of da Vinci’s works.
Mona Lisa being one of them.
Personally, I don’t find anything fascinating about the Mona Lisa.
She is neither strikingly beautiful (unlike Sabine Appelmans…..Paddu! You remember her??)
Nor is she strikingly ugly. (If she was strikingly ugly, she would in turn become fascinating).
And then art connoisseurs want to debate on whether the lady in the picture is smiling or frowning.
Awesome.

I am in a pool of confusion, the pool whirling around all the time, but the whole picture remaining stagnant.

The Vitruvian Man is another of da Vinci’s works. Now, I really like that. It has got some majestic aura around it.
It is the painting of a male with arms and legs stretched to trace a perfect pentacle (the 5 pointed star) and surrounded by a circle.
But is this fascinating art? Probably it is.

The highest premium paid on transportation insurance was that for the Mona Lisa when it was transported from Paris to New York for an exhibition.
Millions of dollars.
At the same time, Ethiopia and Somalia were under a severe drought.
Mankind is amazing.
Portrayed to be a social and community-oriented species, the human being still manages to isolate itself when dire circumstances arrive.

The pool continues to whirl.

Pai Bhai, Namaste.
I am glad you found some inspiration from those quotes.

Hello to the rest of you.
A friend of mine messaged me saying that my posts are too serious. :-)

(There, I smiled…..)
The point is, I really am not putting up these posts for entertaining or humorous reasons. In fact, I don’t even know the reason why I am posting them.
I mean, seriously. Hehehe….
(There goes one more humorous line).

Is humour a trait that we learn while we grow up? Or is the ability to appreciate humour already present in us when we are born?
(Taking off from Plato. After all, if everything remains Greek, we wouldn’t appreciate it much).

I’ve also realised that quite a few of my postings are “negative” in the sense of the word used by humans.
But, who really classifies what is negative and what is positive? It’s all a human concoction.
If I think negatively, and being an optimist, I view every negative thing as a positive one, do I become positive in life? I cannot since I continue to first think about the negatives.
I am negative. I am on film (Hehehe….I cracked this last evening as well. I think its a neat line).

Last night I could barely sleep (after being sleepy until 11:30 or so). I went up to the terrace and probably after a long time was able to see a clear star-studded sky.
When I look up at the wide open sky, I realised the vastness of nothingness that is all around us. All around our planet.
To think about every individual going about his/her work with so much frenzy but hardly ruffling a feather in this vastness surrounding our world, is thought provoking.
Excuse me for using such large sentences.
Excuse me for the seriousness.

Hey guys, when do we all meet up for a bowling stint. I suck at bowling, but its a lot of fun joking around.

My recommendation: Look up at a clear sky in the late nights. You’ll feel good. I am serious.

Wednesday morning.
My Jamshedpur trip is cancelled. I wanted to go.
Too bad.
The best thing about this morning was that I went for a jog (after a very long time).
The best thing about last evening was…..well, there was nothing good about last evening.

Why do some people make it big in life and some people end up as failures? Is this quality within each individual right from birth?
Or is it something that we learn in life and then put to use? These are some of the questions raised in the book by Plato.

Anyway, all that is too much to handle on a morning like this.
I probably am gonna have my Playback theatre sessions this Friday or Saturday. I am quite eager about getting back into Playback (although for a short period of time).

Playback definitely allows me to get into different situations that I wouldn’t come across if I lived my life as-is. It allows me to experience different emotions which I normally wouldn’t have appreciated.
More than the stress on acting, it focuses on understanding and gauging human emotions, treating these emotions with care and bringing them out above everything else.

Tea anybody?

My recommendation for the day: Go out for a morning jog.

Watched Troy on Sunday.
I think it is a good movie, although it turned out pretty depressing for me.
The character that I really liked in the movie is that of Hector (brother of Paris).
I think he was the only person who didn’t deserve to die in that war.
The worst role was that of Brad Pitt. Probably didn’t do justice to Achilles.
Anyway, the following lines quoted by Achilles were quite interesting:
“The gods envy us (humans) because we are mortal. The fact that we are doomed makes everything else seem all the more beautiful”.
This was quite thought provoking. If humans were to be immortal, probably we wouldn’t have developed as much as we have today.
We wouldn’t have appreciated a lot of beautiful things around us.
In spite of knowing that everything is going to perish, we still go around doing a lot of things with immense enthusiasm and draining emotions.
I am glad we are the way we are.

I bought a few books, one among them being a collection of Plato’s dialogues on virtue.
Blossoms is a really nice book shop. Their new store is quite big.

Office was crap as usual. Don’t even want to think about it.
I am feeling kinda low, so I really don’t feel like writing today.
I am out of here……bye!

Got up early in the morning (in spite of having slept at around 1:30 am)
Had a nice dinner last night; thanks Bandar! :-)

Its 7:43 on a Sunday morning and I am contemplating about nothing in particular.

Happy Birthday to you (that is you aunt dearest) :-)

Listening to Coldplay’s Clocks over and over again. (Its probably playing for the 6th time now since I started it this morning).
This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.

“Lights go out and I can’t be saved; tides that I try to swim against…..”
“Confusion never stops; closing walls and ticking clocks….”

The best line of the song is “Am I a part of the cure…or am I a part of the disease?”
One would never know the answer.

My cricket sessions at Palace grounds are no longer happening. Thanks to the rains.
I plan to take up violin classes (not with the “classical” motive that seems to drive Chilli! :-) ) but there are no violin classes anywhere near my home.

Clocks plays for the 7th time now.

I really don’t know where I am heading. No idea about what I plan to do.
No signs of my education plan materializing.

“Confusion never stops; closing walls and ticking clocks….”

The corporate environment all of a sudden has lost its appeal. I want to act.
Whether I can or can not, I definitely want to learn how to act.
I definitely want to act.
I just want someone to rope me into a huge production and give me a good enough role.
I miss “The Mousetrap”. I miss being Trotter. I miss interrogating Paravicini. I miss the snow filled Monkswell Manor guesthouse.
I miss Andy’s violin. I miss my skis. (Someone has stolen them).

This post is getting too soggy.
When you get the time, listen to Coldplay’s Don’t Panic. (After you have heard Clocks of course).
Soggier.

8th time.

I’ll probably feel a lot better once I attend Playback’s refresher course.
Hey, enjoy your Sunday, cos I sure will :-)
